The setting sun stained the sky red, red as the blood that flowed freely from Luka's wounds--particularly the coup de grâce, a gracefully-executed stab through the belly that had been as beautifully executed as it was assuredly fatal. But the pain Luka felt from that terrible wound was as nothing before the bittersweet pain both she and Saw held in their hearts now that their glorious duel had drawn to a close. Aaah, would that it had lasted forever!

Operations Brief: Critical unrest at the Telpher Minor Asteroid Colony within the Essemer system's second debris belt. Unrecognised Biohazard involved; Operation to [CLASSIFIED] at request of House [CLASSIFIED] before official response arrives.

Telpher Minor Asteroid Colony. Standard pattern asteroid colony; 44 small-to-medium solid-compound asteroids locked by industrial space elevators with accompanying structures and docking built inbetween. Initially a mining station, the wealth of the Second Essemer Belt allowed it to grow into a full residential city-station, though still owned and operated by the initial construction group, House Bellerose. The maximum population sustainable by a colony of its class and size, per TCA regulations, is 4 million. At the time of the operation, Telpher Minor's registry of occupants held over 5 million names. Recovered Bellerose documents indicate a lax-to-poor population control and an intentional disregard of Colonial regulations and housing guidelines.

The Unidentified Biological Agent (later assigned the name PAX-813 by Director Shion) appears to have developed in Waste Processing Block 056 on Asteroid 14; first cases in maintenance staff and unregistered persons sheltering in the area. PAX spread quickly; confirmed transmission via water, air and vacuum, the agent is noted to be extremely resilient to changes in its environment. Telpher medical services and experts were unable to identify the pathogen before it spread in two weeks from 14 to the adjacent 12, 33, 25 and two intermediate habitation blocks. By order of the Telpher Colonial Council, these areas were quarantined and all non-essential elevator links were closed. This proved ineffective as within two days it had spread with confirmed cases to incorporate another 9 of the asteroids (approaching a third of the station). All links were severed, and Telpher Minor went into full lockdown. A further ten asteroids then suffered confirmed cases, leaving a total of 23 to 21 infected / safe.

Due to the stations' overpopulation and lax following of proper quarantine procedure guidelines, once PAX-813 was inside a block of the colony, it was effectively doomed. Law and order broke down almost immediately, and quarantine breaches left another eight asteroids compromised. At the time of the operation's start, some four weeks after initial infection, only six asteroids remained uninfected. Seven habitation blocks had taken the prudent measure of physically destroying their elevators to the rest of the colony using mining charges, though two had the unfortunate fate of drifting straight back into the asteroid ring and being destroyed by space debris.

After confirming the unit's immunity to PAX-813, it was deployed to one of the infected areas on Asteroid 09, with Crypton Industries acting before the official response arrived; the Medical and Evacuation Fleet still delayed at Port Hallis by House [CLASSIFIED] at the time. The primary objective was completed quickly; with PAX infesting the habs, collecting samples and all medical notes was quite rudimentary. The secondary objective was completed [CLASSIFIED], proceeding to [CLASSIFIED] as per the request of House [CLASSIFIED].

A faint one was found, and she gave chase to the strongest point. There she finally happened upon the door that would send her home. Neru opened the door and stepped through.

It goes like this, see. There once was a kid named Len. He was a special kid, really; looked a lot like you. Anyway, he was skippin' down the street one day, on 'is way to the local park, since it's where all the nature an' greenery is. An', like, when he got there...he noticed this pretty rainbow shiny portal thing right-n the middle of it all. Looked kinda like a big glowin' gumball, but it was all rainbow-y.

An' when 'e stepped through it, he found this magical place on the other side. It was like...this big beautiful natural surroundin'. Way better n' bigger than the park in every way; there was forests, there was trees, there was this beautiful blue sky an' pleasant vistas...mountains in the distance...even a path through the woods. So Len happily followed it, an' there was a town at the end! This town was all medieval-like, so there weren't no modern conveniences. He walked inside an' saw the old-timey houses, an' the medieval-y people walkin' by in their hoods an' stuff. Regular ol' peasants. But it was a happy place! Like, he got the feelin' the folks livin' there were alla good cheer, and pretty much cool with their lot in life.

So he walked along and saw this place with a wooden sign above the door; said "Shoppe," with an 'e' on the end, 'cuz, y'know, that's how the medieval ol'-time folks did it. Len was all fascinated, 'cuz back home, he never saw places like this 'cept in books. An' maybe that one time the world was an RPG; I dunno if you were 'round for that. But anyway, this wasn't like that, 'cuz it was real authentic-like. An' it was the first real shop medieval this Len'd seen, so he was real excited.

He walked inside an' opened the door, and the shopkeeper was behind the desk an' greeted 'em. He had two heads an' narrow necks, y'know, all green-skinned - one head had blue hair, and the other one was with orange hair an' glasses. An' they didn't like one another very much! They were family an' all, on account a' havin' the one body since they was born, an' that's why they argued an' stuff, 'cuz some normal families do that - they get on each other's nerves. Did it right in fronta Len, too, so it took 'im a sec to get their attention. When that happened, they asked 'im what 'e wanted to buy.

But the problem was, Len couldn't buy anything, 'cause he had no money. But he didn't know that yet because the shopkeeper had an excuse for not sellin' whatever Len wanted to pick up. And then Len got all disappointed because one a' the things he wanted was this tasty-lookin' chocolate cake. It looked all magical an' stuff, really good an' well-made for somethin' medieval.

Luckily, the shopkeeper said Len could grow his own chocolate cake by plantin' the right stuff in the ground! To help 'em out, he wanted to sell Len a bottle a' somethin' called 'white spirit,' but remember, Len didn't have money. See, medieval shops only take medieval coins an' stuff, so Len-babe got all sad. Then the two-head guy told 'im to go adventurin' in the forest, because sometimes you found money an' treasure out there. Maybe even gold coins!

So Len got all fired up an' happy again, an' decided to go inta th' forest to find some. But that's where this story's gotta end, 'cuz all the stuff after that? It's fer next time.
